Attorney General Paxton Asks SCOTUS to Declare Redistricting Attorneys’ Fees Award Unconstitutional Under Shelby County v. Holder
“Supreme Court opinions have the binding effect of law the day they are issued,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said. “The lower courts were unjustified in compelling Texas to pay attorneys’ fees under a law that was invalidated as unconstitutional a full year earlier. We are asking the Court to step in to preserve its authority to establish the supreme law of the land.”
Texas Files Suit Against Federal Government over Unconstitutional Obamacare Tax
“This threat to cut Medicaid funding to Texans unless the state continues to pay hundreds of millions in taxes to Washington amounts to the very ”˜gun to the head’ the Supreme Court warned about in earlier rulings on Obamacare,” Attorney General Ken Paxton said. “Not only is the federal government threatening the health care needs of millions of Texans, but it is doing so using Texans’ own money, collected from them through taxes. This represents yet another huge overstep of authority for this administration, which once again has demonstrated their willingness to circumvent the Constitution in order to achieve their policy goals.”
Attorney General Paxton Applauds Gov. Abbott, HHSC for Ending Planned Parenthood Medicaid Funding
“I applaud Gov. Greg Abbott and HHSC for taking this important step to ensure taxpayer dollars do not go toward funding Planned Parenthood. Attorney General Paxton Statement on Court Ruling to Halt Illegal Water Rule Nationwide
“We are pleased that the Sixth Circuit agreed with Texas and the other states that EPA’s new water rule should be stayed. The court’s ruling is good news for property owners whose land would have been subject to extensive new federal regulations due to this overreaching new water rule,” Attorney General Ken Paxton said. “In effect, the WOTUS rules are simply a blatant power grab by the EPA, and Texas will continue to fight against this ill-conceived and overly broad rule in court.”
Texas Sues Volkswagen and Audi over Deceptive Trade Practices, Environmental Violations

Attorney General Paxton Files Brief in U.S. Supreme Court on HB 2
“Rather than comply with the common-sense measures to elevate the standard of care at abortion facilities laid out in HB 2, abortion activists continue to put Texas women at risk by challenging the legislature’s authority,” Attorney General Paxton said. “The abortion industry is not acting in the interest of women’s health ”“ it’s acting in the interest of preserving their bottom line by avoiding new health and safety requirements. The Supreme Court should uphold the will of Texans and allow the Fifth Circuit’s ruling to take effect.”
Texas, Gulf States and Federal Government Announce Settlement with BP over Deepwater Horizon Spill

Texas as a whole will benefit from this settlement.”
