CORNYN ANNOUNCES MOST WANTED CHILD SUPPORT EVADERS
Delinquent Parents Owe Substantial Child Support and Evade Arrest
AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn today named 10 Texans as "The Most Wanted Child Support Evaders." These Texans repeatedly fail to pay substantial amounts of child support and willfully evade arrest.
Attorney General Cornyn is going today to Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland and El Paso to meet custodial parents with evader cases. These custodial parents are struggling to provide for their children without the financial support of the noncustodial parent named as a Child Support Evader.
"Those on the Most Wanted Child Support Evader List and anyone who owes child support should know that my office will use every legal means to see that they own up to their responsibilities," said Attorney General Cornyn. "I ask the public to assist us in finding these Evaders. If you have a tip, please call our hotline at 1-800-797-5437."
The Office of the Attorney General works with local authorities to arrest and incarcerate noncustodial parents who are delinquent in their child support payments. The Evaders are wanted on civil warrants and face up to six months in jail.
For a parent to be listed as a Most Wanted Child Support Evader, court-ordered delinquent support must be in excess of $5,000 and an arrest warrant issued. The location of the noncustodial parent is unknown, and the parent has not made any payments in the last six months. The noncustodial parent must not be involved in bankruptcy proceedings or receiving welfare benefits. To make information public, the custodial parent must sign a confidentiality waiver.
Evaders estimated arrears as of January 31, 2001 and last known address:
Ollie Lynn Little owes $131,848 for one child in Stephenville, Texas.
Jerry Don Posey owes $86,174 for two children in Canyon Lake, Texas.
Randy Wayne Gomez owes $41,881 for six children in Hereford, Texas.
Frank O. Martinez owes $40,676 for one child in El Paso, Texas.
Marvin Branch owes $38,403 for one child in Amarillo, Texas.
Roy Rene Villareal owes $33,829 for two children in El Paso, Texas.

Marcus Glen Smith owes $26,167 for one child in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Of the 30 Evaders named by the Attorney General since July 1999, 14 have been arrested or have surrendered to authorities including recent arrests in Las Vegas, Nevada; Seattle, Washington; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
