Date Arrested: 11/19/2007
County Arrested: Polk
Other Information: The Fugitive Unit located parole violator Robert Ramirez in custody at the federal immigration International Airport Hobby facility in Livingston, where he was detained on federal immigration violations. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division issued a warrant on Oct. 12, 2007, for Ramirez's arrest for violating his parole for disappearing from a halfway house to which he was assigned after his release from state prison on Oct. 8, 2007. Ramirez was sentenced to 6 years in state prison after being convicted in 2002 in Harris County of sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 16-year-old girl. Federal immigration personnel were unaware of the state parole violation arrest warrant and state Parole officials did not know Ramirez was in custody in a federal facility, until informed of that fact by the Fugitive Unit. Parole officials put a hold on Ramirez after being notified of his whereabouts.
